    Have to agree with Southpaw.

Bigger, stronger players and smaller parks – or at least home run alleys – has lead to slight increases over the years in home runs. Maybe something has been done to the balls but I don’t think it’s so dramatic that it’s appreciable.

Some guys – like Altuve for instance – are just really really…

Do they think the game loses integrity if they admit they juiced the balls a bit?

Hi to the new guys! I’m around every once in a while. Usually when there is some bigger news going on with the Royals. Not so much day to day though unless I’m caught up in a thread.

Are you paying $7-8 mil (that’s likely what arb would bring) for a pitcher who hasn’t been good this year, and may or may not be healthy in what is pretty much going to be a rebuilding year anyway?

Now, if they don’t offer him, and he hits free agency and wants to come back on the cheap, than I can get with that. Otherwise, I’d say let him walk.

As for Gordon, I have a feeling he will give it 1 more go next season, and see if he can’t get back to at least being an average player. He has been hitting better the past week. Cross fingers that it continues, as that would be huge with the WC push. If he doesn’t hit better next year, he isn’t going to walk away from $20 mil, so we can stop…[Read more]

Do you think the Royals offer him a contract this offseason and risk going into arbitration with him? I mean, I used to think it was a given, but his performance this year has been, to be nice… Less than good.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the Royals let him walk. Then of course he’ll sign somewhere else and go back to being absolutely…[Read more]

RoyalRich, couldn’t agree with you more!!! Everything you said is exactly what I took away from this as well. People are already going with the “he was there for you when Ventura died, don’t abandon him now” card. The guy was drunk and driving. I don’t care if he cured aids, he was actively putting peoples lives at risk. There is just NO…[Read more]

I did a search to see if there was antonym to the midas touch.

    It really is mindboggling;
    – signing Gordon and Kennedy to the largest contracts in K.C. history,
    – trading Wade for Soler,
    – signing Hammel, Moss, and Wood,
    – getting three garbage pitchers for Stahm amd the propect

Devils advocate time… Had to sign Gordon. DM would…[Read more]

The 2nd wild card is a real possibility still, even with Soria and our brain dead manager. We just can’t get too far behind while playing Cleveland, and stop giving up late leads to crap teams like last night.

Soria may be DM’s worst signing ever. Its really gonna sting this winter too when we are still on hook for $9 million of his salary next year, and we are trying (most likely in vain) to sign either Moose or Hosmer. Just a brutal signing. I mean, I seriously just do not know what Dayton was thinking with this move.

Escobar really has no place on this team going forward after this season. It would be a mistake for Dayton to bring him back in any capacity for any cheap deal. Mondesi is a better defensive shortstop, and at worse will probably match Esky as a hitter. Esky has absolutely no shot of beating out Whit. Reserve middle infielder maybe??? That’s…[Read more]

Okay it wasn’t really “nothing”. I said it was a trash for trash trade because Strahm is hurt and obviously not helping, Wood hasn’t been very good (although he had turned it around as a reliever he just sucked as a starter) and Ruiz is 18 and years away. However, Strahm had talent and at the very least he was or is probably…

God I hope DM does the right thing and doesn’t resign Esky this offseason. Mondesi is easily the better choice at the position for much cheaper. Also, if your not planning on bringing Cain back, you might as well give Bubba a shot out there since its most likely going to be a black hole in the batting order no matter what.

Wait… We trade for a 5th starter, and were pissed because guy we got is a #5 in return for next to nothing?

The bar is REAL low here. Just be better than Wood was the 5th starter. I think Cahill can probably pull that off.

The real question is, is there guys in Omaha who can hit north of .200 right now against MLB pitching. If there are (and I gotta assume their is with a couple of them), they need to be on the interstate right now imo.
