We do get the comp pick as he will turn down the qualifying offer. But I hear what you are saying.

I’m a bit out of the loop, but isn’t that comp pick a lot lower in the draft than it used to be? I was thinking that it went from being a pick right after the 1st round to one right after the 3rd or 4th…

That would absolutely kill me to see him in a Cardinals uniform. I’m still sore that we didn’t trade him when his value was at an all-time high. I can stand to see him in a Cardinals uniform if we traded him to someone for a couple of good prospects and then he signed with the Cardinals in the off-season. Seeing him in a Cardinals uniform and…[Read more]

So I have a serious question for you guys, Is Alex Gordon finished?

There was a lot of talk in Lincoln around the time that Alex’s wife had their most recent child, that Alex was strongly considering retiring after this year and just concentrating on being a father/husband. He’s made more than enough money, and is responsible with…[Read more]

That is correct, the current television contract is locked in through 2019. That TV deal only pays the Royals $20 million per year.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall them saying last year that the run through the post season generated an extra $30 million in revenue for the club. I don’t know if that was ticket/concession/merchandise revenue…[Read more]

Me personally, I think it is a great example of there being more than one way to experience success. It’s human nature to assume that we know best or better than others. Lord knows that this has been going on forever and the advent of talk radio and the internet message board has made it even more prevalent. I could see attributing last year’s…[Read more]

I haven’t seen anything from Houston on their rotation outside of McHugh.

I have to assume that we’re going to see:

    Thursday – Ventura vs. McHugh
    Friday – Cueto vs. Kazmir
    Sunday – Volquez vs. Keuchel
    Monday – Ventura vs. McHugh

What will get interesting is what happens if we go to a 5th game. With there being another off day in there, I…[Read more]

One thing to keep in mind is the extra money that has been pouring in this year. I think there was a KC Star article a couple of weeks ago that estimated that the increased attendance this year brought in an additional $70 million. I may have read that wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s what the figure was. Judging by the fact that it seems…[Read more]

I wouldn’t say that this series against Detroit is meaningless and I, for one, definitely will not have my interest wane as we head down the stretch. We don’t have a safe lead by any stretch of the imagination and we are far from a juggernaut of a team where we can afford to get comfy or cocky.

All I have to do is think back to 2003, when I…[Read more]

Mondesi was the one guy I really didn’t want them to trade. I think he’s going to be really special for us sooner rather than later.

I think for once, other organizations are over valuing some of our prospects rather than us, as an organization and fanbase, over valuing them.

I don’t get this move for them. They need pitching, not more hitting, so they basically trade one shortstop for another, and give up three potential arms to do it. I would argue that they haven’t made themselves much better with this trade. Here’s to hoping that Tulo’s knee issues pop back up again, especially playing on the turf in Toronto.

I think that Blanton should be DFA’d. You basically have an audition between Young going tonight and Guthrie going tomorrow night. My gut tells me that Young gives you the better chance to win between the 2, but let’s be honest, that’s like trying to pick the prettiest of two ugly girls. Medlen still needs to work himself into MLB shape and…[Read more]

I honestly don’t see that as an issue with this club. With all of the lows that they’ve experienced since most of them have been here, plus the fact that you still have people (including our own fans) that don’t believe in them or discount what they’ve already done, I think there’s plenty of motivation for them.

I didn’t get that from the article at all. It seemed like Lamb was a bit disappointed that he was moving teams, but was excited about a new opportunity and was grateful to the Royals for his time there. I thought both guys seemed fairly complimentary.

I’d say that just throwing out that Moose is 19th in HR’s is a little misleading… Only 3 HR’s separate the #8 spot from the #19 spot.

If you’re trying to make a case for Moose not being a “slap hitter”, I’d point out that he’s 7th among all MLB 3B in slugging percentage.

That ball was hit 30 feet (or 29 feet 10 inches) up the right field wall. We could have had Wilt Chamberlain out there on stilts and he couldn’t have gotten that ball. 🙂
