    Bingo. Two questions.

    Returning to why nobody is making a move – it is probably the fault of the CBA. All the teams that spend and go over the luxury tax get hit at 50% next year if they don’t go under $187MM. So, the Dodgers, Yankees, etc. are all trying to get under that amount so they get hit at 20% and can spend like crazy with next years FA…

    but so what?

    I can’t remember ever being less enthused about a new baseball season starting.
    Am not especially excited about anybody likely to be among the 25 to head north.

    Am interested to see a few of the younger propects play but that is about it.

    You weren’t going to get anything for either player.

    Do you mean that you don’t think Alexander could sustain his effectiveness? i.e. that the league would adjust and that he wouldn’t be able to repeat his success?
    What do you think they should have gotten for him if he wasn’t tied into this plot to dump Soria’s salary?

    In other words it was the Dodger’s turn to screw Dayton. Wanna bet Trevor Oaks is Sean O’Sullivan 2.0?

    Rumor has it the Royals have offered Hosmer $147/7. That’s two years too many for me. AAV is little more than I’d like, but not the end of the world.

    In recent article Flannigan mentioned 4 guys;

    Not to much surprising sounds like Adams thinka we might be able to dump Hammel and Soria’s contracts, and that Herrera should fetch something.

    My hunch is that trying to shed these threew contracts is Dayton’s prime directive these days.…[Read more]

    Interesting note from MLBTR about Royals replacing Esky with Lovechild.
    Don’t know if the writer has any inside info on Royals moving on from Esky but I expect Dayton to at least try to re-sign him. I also expect Ned to play him.

    3 years and 52 Million. Wow! Slightly topping Chapman’s AAV.

    I am happy for Wade.
    Always thought he was the key guy in the HDH bullpen, a truly dedicated professional……..and from what I have read or heard very generous mentoring other Royal’s pitchers.

    That said though, contract seems like pretty risky from the Roackies perspective.

    Davis denies this according to Star Tribune reporter;

    Davis, reached by phone at his North Carolina home, said he was mystified by the accusation. “I spoke to her cordially, just like I did to a lot of people working around the dugout, because it would have seemed rude not to.     from Olney’s latest;

    “Hosmer’s agent, Boras, can wait because the Royals will wait for Hosmer. Whether he’s ready to sign before the new year or in spring training, Kansas City would like Hosmer back as a Tony Gwynn-type legacy anchor, as they go through their next rebuilding cycle.”
